Centre Celebrates Students' Success

12 September 2008

Welsh learners from the Glamorgan Welsh for Adults Centre at the University of Glamorgan were presented with their certificates to mark the completion of their course by TV presenter and Columnist Angharad Mair.

The event, which took place at the University, was attended by a large crowd of Welsh tutors, learners, and their families who were all there to celebrate and recognise the learners' commitment and dedication to learning the Welsh language.

The event was also broadcasted on Wedi 7 - live on S4/C and the programme also featured profiles and interviews with learners, which provided them with an opportunity for them to share with the rest of Wales their own experiences of learning Welsh.

Dr Maldwyn Pate of the Glamorgan Welsh for Adult Centre commented, "It has been great having Angharad Mair and the Wedi 7 crew involved and both staff and students at the University took part in the event. Our students were interviewed on this popular TV programme, which was a unique opportunity for them to practise the language and as tutors we were proud of how confidently they spoke."

The Certificate Evening was one of several events held at the University by the Glamorgan Welsh for Adults Centre to celebrate our learners' success and to support and encourage them to use the language in various situations outside of the classroom.

The Glamorgan Welsh for Adults Centre runs courses for all levels of Welsh learners throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr and Bridgend.
